Customs foil currency smuggling bid

The airport Customs yesterday arrested a Singapore-bound passenger
who tried to smuggle seven types of foreign currency out of the country
valued at over Rs 15 million.
Customs spokesman Lesley Gamini said the passenger, a Sri Lankan
citizen was
arrested inside the cabin of the plane following information received
by officers about his smuggling attempt.
According to Gamini the suspect has been identified as a businessman
from Hambantota. Customs sleuths are investigating.
