Lankan Trade Expo in Oman from Feb 12

Arrangements have been initiated to hold the Sri Lankan Trade Exhibition and Food Festival at the Alfalaj Hotel in Muscat from February 12-14, on a grand scale, Sri Lanka's Ambassador in Oman, Asoka Girihagama said.

The Sri Lankan embassy in Oman would hold the Sri Lankan Trade Exhibition and Food Festival with the aim of propagating Sri Lanka's cuisine, cultural heritage and trade, he said, which had also been included in Mahinda Chinthana future vision, enhancing the cultural heritage of the country. It is an essential necessity to present Sri Lanka's identity, he said.

Sri Lanka's Ambassador Asoka Girihagama, said that this would be organized to mark 25 years of diplomatic relations between Oman and Sri Lanka. According to the ambassador, the Sri Lankan embassy would make all arrangements in this regard. It would also help boost trade ties between the two countries, courtesy the recently established Oman - Sri Lankan Business Council.

This would be a golden opportunity for Sri Lankan entrepreneurs. It would help promote products of entrepreneurs and services in Oman.

Therefore, the Sri Lanka embassy in Oman, in collaboration with the Oman Sri Lanka Business Council (OSBC), had identified an impressive spectrum of products.

“Oman is one of the promising and important destinations among the Gulf countries to promote Sri Lankan products. More than 40 Sri Lankan business firms and companies, have voiced interest in taking part in this trade exhibition and food festival,” he said.

Around 30 different products belonging to many sectors would be exhibited. Mainly they have enlisted to exhibit, apparel, electrical and electronics items, foot wear and leather products, tea, printing and stationery, wooden products, rubber and rubber based items, boat building, floriculture, diamonds, gems and jewellery, ornamental fish, ceramic, handloom, processed foods, toys, handicraft, tourism, herbal and spa, among other items at the exhibition, he said.
