Cashew cultivation in Katuwana

A cashew cultivation programme was launched at Katuwana under the
Divineguma programme, Assistant Divisional Secretary H Thilakawardena
said. He said cultivators have been selected from five Grama Niladari
divisions. Plants will be provided for them.
Salesman missing

A salesman of the Ceylon Tobacco Company Batticaloa branch,
Krishnasamy Dinesh, 35, of 394/63, Selvanayagam Road, Batticaloa is
reported missing since Saturday. He was on his routine visit to shops in
a three wheeler with Rs 600,000 in his possession.
His three wheeler was found abandoned at main street, Kattankudy. His
wife and relatives have lodged a complaint with the Batticaloa Police.
The Kattankudy Police are investigating.
Indian woman hawker nabbed

A woman hawker of Indian nationality selling textiles, was arrested
by the S T F. She was handed over to the Kaluwanchikudy Police in
Batticaloa District on Saturday. She had come to Sri Lanka on a tourist
visa and was selling textiles in the Manmunai South and Eruvil Pattu
divisions. She was to be produced before courts
Appeal
D M P Dasanayake who was diagnosed with an end stage renal failure
has been recommended urgent kidney transplant to save his life.
According to Dr Anura Hewageegana of the National Institute for
Nephrology, Dialysis and Transplantation, he needs a B positive or O
positive kidney. His wife says they are unable to meet the expenditure
and requests public assistance to help his cause.

Missing
Rajakulage Sujeeva Nalika Perera, wife of P Sanjaya Waththuhewa of
72, Temple Road, Negombo, is missing since January 10, 2013. The family
seeks public assistance to find her whereabouts.
She is 44 years old and 5 feet and 3 inches tall. Her hair falls down
to shoulder level and one tooth of the upper jaw is black.

Thera's cremation today
The cremation of Ven Maha Halmillawa Piyananda Thera will take place
today at 2.30 pm at the Adahana Maluwa of the Kurundankulama Sambodhi
Viharaya.
