Divineguma catalyzes development - Minister

The Divineguma catalyzes the development process of the country under the leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, said Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sumedha G.Jayasena.

She was speaking at a Divineguma awareness programme at the Monaragala Community hall organized by the Monaragala Divisional secretariat recently to brief government officers, religious leaders, Bank officers and community leaders.

The minister said that the Divineguma Bill was a hot topic among all, but passed by the the House following amendments made on the recommendation of the Supreme Court.

The Economic Development Ministry takes measures to empower economical and social conditions of each family through the Divineguma programme, she said.

Fifty low income families will be identified in the Monaragala Divisional Secretariat area to promote families to boost their economy.

Agriculture, poultry, small scale entrepreneurship, livestock development programmes will be introduced to them.

Monaragala Division Secretary Upali Jayasekara, Monaragala PS chairman R.M. Rathnaweera and other PS Members, Samurdhi officers, Bank managers and Grama Niladharis participated.
