GMCA golden jubilee celebrations

Sheikh Afeefuddin Al Jailani will participate as the Chief Guest at the final meeting of the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Galle Muslim Cultural Association (GMCA) at the Galle Ramparts today at 3.45 pm.

It will be held under the chairmanship of GMCA president Nusair Samsudeen.

He is the 19th direct descendant of Al Sheikh Abdul Qadir al Jailani al Hasani, known as Sultan Al - Auliya (King of Saints) and the 34th direct descendant of Sayyidina Rasulullah.

Al Sheikh Abdul Qadir al Jailani is one of the most universally acclaimed and celebrated Saint, Ulama and Sufi Master. His knowledge and teachings following the path of Prophet Mohammed are well documented in a large number of books that he wrote both on Sharia (Islamic law) and Tasawwuf (Sufism).

Sheikh Afeefuddin al Jailani completed his studies in Iraq and specialises in Shariah (Islamic laws) and Tasawwuf.

He has studied with many Islamic scholars. Among his teachers, the late Mufti of Iraq Maulana al Sheikh Abdul Karim al Mudarris had the most influence on Sheikh Afeefuddin al Jailani and conferred the Al Ijazah al Elmiyyah on him, which is one of the prestigious certification for an Islamic scholar and teacher in the Islamic World.
