Nandimittra, Java Lane in Premier League final
It was only the luck which lacked Colombo FC who lost to Java Lane to
bow down at the Premier League semi-final played at City Football
Complex in front of thousands spectators.
The pre-tournament favorites Java Lane could not settled at all and
the ball possession was with Colombo FC for over 60% of the game. Both
started with attacking football and Java Lane managed to find the net at
the 28th minute with N. adbulla making no mistake converting the through
pass he received from the mid field.

yet the Colombo FC did not give up but accelerated the speed creating
many goal scoring moves and credit should go the Java Lane goalkeeper
Sashi who was the former national goal keeper and stood like a Wall to
prevent the ball hitting the net. Java Lane was leading 1-0 at lemons.
The three Nigerians playing for Colombo FC, played a good game and
the 2 Airtel Rising Stars Shasni from Colombo FC and Zarvan from Java
Lane, fresh from Manchester United trading camp played a superb game for
their teams. As both teams are from the same area the match had created
a rivalry, the pressure was too high in the field resulting were two red
cards shown by referee Tharanga to Java Lane players.
This will have an effect to Java Lane line up for the finals as they
will be with out these two players and have unnecessary pre match
pressure for the all important finals.
Nandimittra beat new comers Moragasmulla Youth 2-0
It was experience and professional approach that led to victory for
Nandimittra who last year played in the Dialog Champions league and was
relegated to Division I.
Moragasmulla team from Kotte played well in the first half to contain
much fancied Nandimittra till the end of half time with nil all. But
soon after the break with in 10 minutes Nuwan Priyankkaara netted two
good goals to the dismay of Moragasmulla fans and the game ended with
the same results leaving Moragasmulla out of the tournament.
So Nandimittra and Java Lane will be elevated to play in the Dialog
Champions League for the coming season and an exciting Finals will be on
cards to select the champions of premier Division 1.
This year it was remarkable that the tournament was very competitive
in the league stages with Kurunegala Pelicans, Matara Youth,
Anuradhapura Solid, Beruwala, Super Sun Colombo FC with many national
stars and African players together with thousands of their home fans
created a massive impact for the championship.
It is for sure that these teams will pose a threat to any of the big
names in Sri Lankan club football arena in the coming competitions. |
