Singer SL SC athletes shine at Mercantile C’ships
Singer Sri Lanka Sports Club claimed a number of victories at the 29
th Mercantile Services Athletic Champonship 2012 which concluded at
Sugathadasa Stadium Colombo recently. They won 19 medals inclusive of
four gold medals, six silver medals and nine bronze medals.

Nihal Kodagoda won the gold medal in the men’s over 55 100 metre
event. He also won two silver medals in 110 metre hurdles and 400 metre
hurdles events respectively.
I.R.A. Mangala bagged gold medals in the men’s over 35 1500 metres
while setting up a new tournament record in the 5000 metres event. He
also clinched the bronze medal in the 800 metres event.
S.P. Karunaratne bagged the bronze medal in the men’s over 40 putt
shot and won a silver medal in the triple jump.
S.U.N. Fernando won two bronze medals in the men’s over 50 400 metres
and 200 metres.
W.M.B.Somadasa bagged bronze medals in the men’s over 50 long jump
and triple jump events. K.D.Mithrasena claimed silver medal in the men’s
over 40 5000 metres event. K. H. Dudley won the men’s over 40 1500
metres race walk. D.A.G.M. Seneviratne won the bronze medal in the men’s
over 50 5000 metres while bagging a silver medal in the 3000 metre
walking event.
N. M. Thilakananda bagged the silver medal in the over 40 men’s 400
metres hurdles. Kalhari Jayathunga won a silver medal for long jump and
bronze medal for triple jump in the novices event.
