St. Anthony's Church new museum opened

The new museum of St. Anthony's Church, Kochchikade, Colombo was opened by Arch Bishop of Colombo Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith and First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa on January 13.

A special feature of the ceremony was placing of special statue of St. Anthony brought from Padua, Italy, the Archbishop of Colombo blessed the statue before placing same on the stand. It was followed by a Holy Mass.

The sacred relies of the Saint received in 2010 is preserved and placed in the museum for veneration along with books on the life, times and miracles performed by the Saint. Present at the ceremony include visiting dignitaries from Padua, Italy, Mgr. Neville Joe Perera and Navy Commander Admiral Jayantha Colombage.
