Candela Learning wins Award
Barely four months after its launch in Sri Lanka, the innovative new
interactive education tool 'Candela' was adjudged winner in the
E-Learning and Education category at the e-Swabhimani National Best
e-Content awards, confirming its unique value proposition to children,
teachers and parents, and emphasizing the transformative role it can
play in our society.
The e-Swabhimani is an initiative of the Information Communication
Technology Agency of Sri Lanka aimed at recognizing excellence in
digital content creation. It is available in a CD which can be simply
loaded on to any computer to provide children with a learning
experience, Candela learning tools are entirely based on the Education
Ministry's officially published curriculum for science. They are
designed to provide children with an engaging, rewarding and motivating
learning experience.
Candela educates and motivates the child to learn by creating an
environment that is inherently stimulating and fun. In their evaluation
the E-Swabhimani jury pointed out that "almost all the content is highly
interactive - drag and drop exercises and interactive science
experiments, all of which can keep students engaged with the lesson
until they have mastered it." Candela's audio, video and animations help
describe scientific concepts in a manner that maximises student
engagement and knowledge absorption.
