Royal take major honours in drawn game

Milan Abeysekera and Sampath de Silva helped Royal College Colombo to score 253 runs and register a first innings win over St.Sebastians College , Moratuwa in their under 19 cricket encounter which ended in a draw at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Milan scored a fighting 74 runs inclusive of nine hits to the ropes while Sampath de Silva made a well compiled 47 with five boundaries.Spinner Anushka Perera was the most impressive among the Sebastianite bowlers with four for 55 ably supported by Nimesh Fernando (three for 42)

St.Sebastian’s : 231 runs for nine declared

Royal : 253 runs in 100.4 overs (Milan Abeysekera 74, Sampath de Silva 47, Shaminda Dias 38, Devind Pathmanathan 22, Hashen Ramanayake 20, Anushka Perera four for 55, Nimesh Fernando three for 42)

Ravindu wrecks Ananda

S.Thomas’College Mount Lavinia took major honours in their drawn inter schools under 19 cricket match at Ananda Mawatha yesterday.

Replying to the mammoth Thomian total of 413 runs for five declared the Anandians were bundled out for 185 runs with fresher Ravindu Tillekeratne doing the damage with five wickets for 46 runs.

S.Thomas’ : 413 for five (overnight)

Ananda : 185 in 61.1 overs (Sammu Ashan 40, Pasindu Ashan 21, Ravindu Tillekeratne five for 46)

Fine double by Angelo

A fine batting performances by Thilina Silva (60) , Angelo Ratnasinghe (50 not out) and Shiran Ratnayake(41) helped St.Benedict’s College Colombo to take first innings honours in their match which ended at Kalutara yesterday.

The Bens resuming their first innings at 63 for four piled up 275 for nine declared helped by three half centuries from Thilina Silva, Angelo Ratnasinghe, and Shiran Ratnayake.

The homesters in their second innings were reeling at 76 for seven with Angelo Ratnasinghe turning in a fine all round performance taking 4 for 22 well supported by Geethika Jayatilleke (3 for 36)

Holy Cross : 161 in 77 overs and 76 for seven in 39 overs (Thareen Lakeesh 17, Shanaka Cooray 19 n.o., Angelo Ratnasinghe four for 22, Geethika Jayatilleke three for 36)

St. Benedict’s : 275 for nine declared in 72 overs (Thilina Silva 60, Madura Madusanka 31, Angelo Ratnasinghe 50 n.o., Shiran Rathnayake 41, Geethika Jayathilleke 32, Nisala Chandika three for 77, Chathun Kamesh two for 60)

Samith excels for Sebs

A fine half century by Samith Silva (56) helped St.Sebastians College Moratuwa to score 86 run win over Thurstan College in their under 19 second XI match played at Thurstan Grounds recently.

St.Sebastian’s ‘A’ 171 ( Gayan Silva 20, Samith Silva 56, Arjuna Radhewa three for 72, Chinthaka Udaya four for nine and 68 for 2 declared (Gayan Silva 20, Visal Senanayake 24 n.o.)

Thurstan ‘A’ 93 ( Isuru Fernando 31, Sachintha Gunawardena four for 18, Visal Senanayake four for eight) and 60 ( Thimira Jayasuriya 15, Premesh Fernando four for 18, Visal Senanayake two for 19, Sachinda Gunawardena three for 11)
