Raids on cannabis chenas

The Police Special Task Force (STF) raided three cannabis chenas with 12,000 cannabis plants about five feet tall, during the last two days. The STF raided one at Hambegamuwa and another two at Thanamalvila. The quarter acre Hambegamuwa chena with around 1,000 plants was located at Marugamara.

The raid was conducted by SI CR Paralamullage attached to the Ambalantota STF camp. A half an acre chena in Thanamalvila had 7,500 cannabis plants while the other quarter acre chena had 3,500 plants. The chenas were located in the Udawalawa Forest Reserve. The raids were conducted by SI M M N L Dissanayake attached to the Udawalawa STF camp. Hambegamuwa and Thanamalvila Police are investigating.
