The Seethawaka Abhiman Festival at
which the ‘Seethawaka Abhimani’ honorary title was conferred
on personalities who have done proud service to the country
locally and internationally was held at the Padukka Sri
Piyaratne MMV hall under the patronage of Economic
Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa on January 12. Here,
Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardena
presents a special memento to Minister Basil Rajapaksa in
appreciation of his presence at the event. Seethawakabhimani

A one day seminar for provincial
journalists in the Ampara district on ‘The Role of the
Journalist in Post War News Reporting’ jointly organised by
the Sri Lanka Press Council and District Secretariat, Ampara
under the Deyata Kirula National Exhibition Programme 2013

The Local Government and Provincial
Councils Ministry distributed vehicles and equipment among
15 local bodies in the island to mark the birthday and
second year of the term of office of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa recently. Local Government and Provincial Councils
Minister A L M Athaullah was the Chief Guest at the ceremony
at the ministry. Ministry Secretary R A A K Ranawaka and
Project Directors A Sriwardena and L Mangalika were also
present. Members of the Hambantota Municipal Council, Jaffna
Municipal Council, Nochiyagama Pradeshiya Sabha,
Galenbindunuwewa Pradeshiya Sabha, Ibalogama
Pradeshiya Sabha, Kantale Pradeshiya Sabha, Central Kandy
Pradeshiya Sabha. Kahatagasthiliya Pradeshiya Sabha,
Manmunaipattu Pradeshiya Sabha, Hakmana Pradeshiya Sabha,
Musali Pradeshiya Sabha, Hambantota Pradeshiya Sabha,
