Fans of Latin American food, who are not sure where to start when it
comes to comida Cubana should explore the 7 Degrees North Cuban Night
every Saturday from 8pm. Cuban flavours are known to tantalize taste
buds with recipes that pack a powerful punch of flavour. The rich and
varied flavour of Cuban cuisine is indicative of the diversity of Cuban
culture.
Cuban cuisine is a fusion of Spanish, African, and Caribbean cuisine.
During colonial times, Cuba was an important port for trade, and many
Spaniards who lived there brought their culinary traditions along with
them. Cuban recipes share spices and techniques with Spanish and African
cooking with some Caribbean influence in spice and flavour.
This results in a unique, interesting and flavourful blend of the
cultural influences with strong similarities in the cuisine of the
neighboring Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.
The unique types of Cuban dishes have an abundance of flavours with a
variety of ingredients that represent the authenticity of the country.
Among some of the Cuban food that will be on offer are Picadillo which
is a Cuban style Hash, Camarones En Crema Con Cilantro known as Shrimp
in Cilantro Cream Sauce and Fricasé de Pollo which is a Chicken Fricasse.
Some of the popular types of dishes throughout Cuba are bite size
delicacies that make an ideal evening snack. The variety of Cuban drinks
includes the famous Mojitos that are in various types of flavors such as
the Original Mojitos, Raspberry, Pineapple and Strawberry.
