Indigenous medicine becoming popular cure for NCDs

There is a marked rise in the use of indigenous medicine to treat non
- communicable disease (NCD), Indigenous Medicine Minister Salinda
Dissanayake said.
The Indigenous Medicine Ministry which aims to build a healthy
generation has launched many programmes to boost indigenous medicine, a
ministry spokesman said. Deputy Indigenous Medicine Minister Pandu
Bandaranayaka along with Minister Salinda Dissanayake has taken many
steps to popularise the indigenous medicine system countrywide to solve
health problems in the community, the spokesman said.
He said the ministry has also taken steps to construct medical
officers’ quarters at the Homeopathy Hospital in Ragama, Welisara.
The ministry will spent around Rs 44 million for this project. |
