Minister urges death sentence for child abusers
The death sentence should be imposed on persons
involved in child abuse and violence against women, Child
Development and Women’s Affairs Minister Tissa Karaliyadda said. The
minister was addressing a seminar on Friday.

He stole 16 mobile phones
A man who stole 16 upmarket cellular phones and
I pods during the festive season, was taken into custody by
Kollupitiya Police. The Police appealed to those who lost their
cellular phones to visit the police station and identify their
phones. The suspect aged 35 produced before Fort Magistrate Kanishka
Wijeratne was remanded until January 10.
