The one-day event, which took place recently, saw the participation
of the Bradman Foundation and the Movement Disorder Foundation in a
special day of excellent sportsmanship and cricket skills for 100
differently-abled primary school children at the NCC Grounds in Colombo.
Elaborating on the latest CSR initiative by Hyundai, Heinz A. Reuter,
Hyundai Lanka (Pvt) Ltd. managing director said “We have a clear vision
with regard to our responsibilities in terms of giving back to the
communities in which we operate. In this instance, we have partnered
with RCCW to reach out to marginalized sections of our society and
empower these youth to reach beyond their physical limitations, improve
their skills in sport and have fun in the process.”
“We recognize that the differently abled lack access to and are often
not afforded the opportunities that others take for granted. It is
therefore extremely gratifying to be a part of such an event in Sri
Lanka and I am personally touched at the level of commitment and
enthusiasm of these youth,” he added. The unique event, which took place
with the auspices of the Bradman Foundation, saw all participants
receiving a kit from Cricket Australia sponsored by Hyundai Lanka.
The chief guest at the event was Adam Jones Counsellor of the
Australian High Commissioner in Sri Lanka, while the guests of honour
included Rt. Ken Adam of Rotary Club Bowral, Australia, Bradman
Foundation Ambassador Rick McCarthy and Trustee for the Movement
Disorder Foundation Brendan McNally.
