Museum heist was one man show - Police
There is no connection to a politician,
businessman, police officer or a foreigner in the Colombo Museum
artefacts’ robbery in March. Lansage Priyantha Mendis alias Kumara
alias Kan Getta arrested by the Police on October 27 carried out the
robbery alone, Western Province Senior DIG Anura Senanayake said
yesterday.

Man held with explosives
A person in possession of 800 detonators, two
kilograms of gun-powder and 12 roles of explosive wires at the
Kurunegala bus stand, was arrested by the Special Investigation Unit
attached to Kurunegala Police.

Treasure hunters re-remanded
The suspects held in connection with treasure
hunting at Melsiripura Patthini Devale was re-remanded by Kurunegala
Chief Magistrate Kavindra Nanayakkara until January 2. Gokarella
Police OIC Weeraratne told court that the site belongs to the
Archaeological Department.
