A student of a school in Dikwella was taken into custody in connection with a theft of a purse belonging to a teacher.

The incident occurred when the teacher left having kept the purse in the room.

When the teacher returned, she found that her purse containing jewellery is empty. There had been a gold bracelet and a chain in the purse. The jewellery is worth Rs 57,000.

A student was taken into custody by Dikwella Police in this regard on a tip off given by a couple of students.
