Kurunegala flood victims assisted

Cooperatives and Internal Trade Minister Jonstan Fernando said at a
Media briefing at the Kuruengala Kachchery that steps have been taken to
provide food and other facilities for the displaced flood victims in the
North Western Province.
He said 2,000 families have been affected by landslides and floods in
the province.
He said under the instruction of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, the
government provided all facilities, including drugs.
He said earth slips have occurred at Dodangaslanda and Mawathagama.
District Secretary H.N.P.B. Hitisekara said the Disaster Management
Unit is ready to provide facilities for displaced families and there are
about 42 temporary camps for the victims in the district.
D.I.G. Asoka Wijetilake said Daduru Oya, Mee Oya, Maguru Oya, Ma Oya
and Kospotu Oya overflows and corps have also been washed away.
