Many people do not like or are rather afraid to be in the dark. Among
those who strive to flee from the dark, seeing light, dwell in their
dream world amid of their struggles and misseries.
Their survival is bitter, not charm, but still they foresee the bliss
of sweet dreams. Waruni Kodituwakku is from the Arts Faculty of the
University of Peradeniya.
"Having dreams at night is easy. No disturbances at all. When we fall
into reverie at night, dreams come over dreams, giving new visions into
the insight. More things come into my vision when I close my both eyes,
rather than have them opened.
I see what is hidden in the dark. I call them dark dreams."
This is how Waruni Hettiarachchi expressed her thought around her art
exhibition. "Dark dreams held at the Peradeniya University precincts.
Coming into her career details see said 'I had my schooling at Gamini
Dissanayake National School at Kothmale.
My father and two brothers engaged in business while my mother was a
Government Servant, retired prematurely, because of me." "I offered Art
as a GCE (OL) subject. My art teacher was Tilaka Podimenike. Very
devoted teacher. She had the talents to have my hidden talents sprout
out. Enabling to start my first milestone at the school itself - where I
had my first art exhibition.
Since my birth I had a difficulty in walking. Thus I had more time,
and my mother used to be by me, till I entered the University.
President of the Student Union Asanka Abeyratne's assistance with the
other members of the main association helped a lot, to have my job a
success, I thank them."
Her style of theme is not typecast. They get varied. She doesn't have
high dreams, but hope to do the correct thing. Let us brighten the world
within our short journey of life and make others have the opportunity to
have them seen. |
