ACBC conference in Kandy

The All Ceylon Buddhist Congress will hold it's 86th general conference at the YMBA hall, Kandy tomorrow.

It will be held under the patronage of Ven Medagama Dhammananda Thera, Kelaniya University Sanskrit Department's Prof Induragare Dhammarathana Thera and Anula Wijesundara.

This annual conference was held in Jaffna, Kandy, Matara and Galle during the past.

The event will be held in Kandy after 16 years.

Sarada Devi birthday celebrations

Sarada Devi birthday celebrations organised by the Ramakrishna Mission will be held at the Ramakrishna Mission Hall, Wellawatte on January 4. The programme is as follows: 5.30am: Mangalarati and vedic chanting, 8.30am: Special pooja, Devi Stuthi and Bhajan,

10.30am: Reading from the Gospel of the Holy Mother Sri Sarada Devi, 11am: Homa and noon: Arati Prasadam.

Workshop

The workshop 'Proposals to assist underprivileged Muslims to improve their living standards and to organise medical camps and self - employment skills' will be held on December 30 from 9am to 4pm at the Kobbekaduwa Cultural Centre, Colombo7.

The workshop is organised by the IDB Graduate Association with the Sri Lanka Islamic Centre.

The participants will be IDB scholarship passed out graduates.

The IDB Scholarship Division, Jeddah has sponsored the programme.

Former Speaker M H Mohamed will open the workshop.

School book presentation

The presentation of school books and items to children of employees of Sri Lanka Telecom Manpower Solutions will be held on December 23 from 10am to 3pm at the Sathutu Uyana, Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo 7.

Children who excelled at the Grade five scholarship, GCE (O-L) and GCE (A-L) will also receive school books and other items.

Guinness World Record attempt

A Guinness World Record attempt for the largest electronic keyboard ensemble directed by L B Anton Dias will be held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Theatre - Nelum Pokuna on December 23 at 5.30pm.

Get - together

The get-together of Telijjawila Past Pupils Association, Colombo branch will be held on December 30 at 9am at Glen Reception Hall, Attidiya.

The digayu pinkama to bless the elderly members will also be held on the same day.

Carol service

The carol service of the church of St Francis of Assisi will be held tomorrow at 6 pm at the church No 80, Hotel Road, Mount Lavinia.
