Set up more banks, finance companies - Senior Minister

Propergators of Leftist political dogmas which perpetuated poverty without transforming the poor into rich people have now been discarded and sent home by voters, said Senior Minister of International Monetary Co-operation and Finance and Planning Deputy Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama. More and more banks, finance companies should be set up in the country for the strengthening of its economy.

Dr Amunugama was speaking as the chief guest after opening the George Steuart Finance Company's seventh branch at the Kandy city centre on Wednesday. Dr Amunugama said banks should take a leaf from financial institutions which are providing a more friendly service to customers.
