Cell inmate phones police officer

The Police seized seven mobile phones from the possession of inmates
of the Negombo Prison during a raid on prisoners' cells yesterday.
A telephone call by an inmate of the Negombo Prison to a police
officer in Chilaw resulted in the search operation, the Police said. The
inmate called the police officer to inquire about the flood situation in
Chilaw.
After the call, the Chilaw Police raided ward No 1 and found seven
phones in the possession of inmates who are underworld figures.
Investigations are continuing to ascertain how these phones found
their way into the cell.
