Rewards for outstanding policemen

Police officials who helped solve several crimes were rewarded as St Anne's College Auditorium recently. Rs 20.4 million was given to 883 policemen.

The presentation was made by North Western Province Senior DIG Asoka Wijethilake.

DIG Wijethilake said the objective of offering rewards to dedicated police officers was to motivate them to control crime and violence in the country.

DIG Wijethilake told the recipients to use the cash rewards for the family members' welfare.

This programme is held annually.
