Suspect in vehicle fraud case remanded

A suspect who changed vehicle chassis numbers , altered documents and pawned the vehicles to a finance company was ordered to be remanded by Horana magistrate Mahinda Ranasingha.

The suspect is a resident of Kalutara, Dodangoda.

Investigations revealed that the suspect's wife is a lawyer.

Interrogation of the suspect revealed that he had two other cases pending before two magistrate's courts, police said.

He had pawned the vehicles to a finance company in Horana town.

The suspect was nabbed by Special Crime Investigation Unit, Horana. Investigations revealed that, another suspect too was involved in the fraud.

IP Anil Ranaweera and a team of officers are investigating.
