Christmas Pachahadi

The Colombo Chetty Association will hold a three in one Musical Extravaganza of Christmas Carrols, Sing-A-Long and Dancing with Sohan and the Experiments, with Guest Artists Ronnie Leitch and Clifford Richard today at 7 pm at Colombo Hilton Residence Ballroom, Colombo 2.


Agricultural produce selling centre

A project to set up an agricultural produce selling centre in the Ampara town has been approved by the Agriculture Ministry.

The outlet will collect vegetables, fruit and grains produced by local farmers.

Sapugoda Kirige Nadika, 26, of Wilehena, Yahamulla, Wilpita, Akuressa, is suffering from an acute kidney ailment. Doctors have recommended an urgent kidney transplant to save her life. The surgery is estimated to cost Rs 600,000.

Nadika’s mother D A Chandrawathie Elabada Kankanamge says her family is unable to meet the expenditure due to their financial plight. She requests the public to assist her daughter’s cause by sending financial contributions possible to help expedite the surgery. She also requests a donor willing to donate a ‘O’ positive or ‘B’ positive kidney to facilitate the surgery, to contact her on 077-1381320 or 041-4914865.

Seven year old child Mohamed Salmon Khan of No 30, Muthuraja Mawatha, Mabola, Wattala has been diagnosed as having a boil in his bottom abdomen and is suffering from unbearable pain. Doctors have recommended him to undergo a surgery at a private hospital which will cost Rs 200,000. His father Mohomed Nisardeen Alimudeen says he is unable to foot the bill due to his financial plight. He seeks public assistance to expedite his child’s cause. Buddhist talk

Thushara Perera will deliver a talk in English on 'Discourse on bait' at the meeting of the Servants of the Buddha Society on December 22 at 4.30pm at Maithree Hall, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.


National Conference on Buddhist Studies

The 8th National Conference on Buddhist Studies organised by the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Sri Jayewardenapura in association with The Buddhist Times will be held on December 21 and 22 at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, University of Sri Jayewardenapura.

Carols at St Benedict's College

St Benedict's College will conduct their annual Carols programme titled 'A Green Christmas' on December 21 at St Lucia's Cathedral Kotahena.

This service will contain secular as well as seasonal Carols and music.

Its is expected to last about one and a half hours. The entrance procession is at 6.45pm.

The programme will be presented by The College Choir, Primary Choir and Western Band of St Benedict's College with a guest performance by Choro Benedicte.

The highlights of the programme: The college choir presenting traditional Christmas Carols, primary choir choreographed to sing popular Christmas songs, college Western band display, introduction of Green Father Christmas and elves, Choro Benedicte an all male accapella group singing popular seasonal songs and combined Choir of over 100 voices.


Christmas and New Year pola

The Seva Vanitha Unit of the Sri Lanka State Pharmaceutical Corporation Christmas and New Year pola will be held at the corporation premises today from 9am to 5pm.

The pola will have ready made garments, textiles and other goodies on sale.
