The programme to curtail software
piracy in Sri Lanka underway |
Sri Lanka Customs, under the auspices of the Director General of
Customs, conducted a series of capacity building programmes to curtail
software piracy in Sri Lanka.
The programme endeavors to make customs officers aware of the law,
the numerous ways in which pirates bring pirated software into the
country. Detailed trainings of product identification of counterfeit and
pirated software, will be given.
Customs officials also committed to be vigilant with regard to the
smuggling of non-genuine products and proper importation in to the
country via air and shipping.
The inaugural session was chaired by Director General Shalini
Ratwatte, Consultant BSA, Amice van der Burg-Dissanayake and Poojitha
Rajapakse of Microsoft and members of the two authorised microsoft
distributors, Trident Corporation and Tech One Global. HRD Directorate
of Sri Lanka Customs organised the programme.
