Science College win Zahira Rugby Carnival

The Zahira College Old Boys’ Rugby Association (ZOBRA) recently organized the ‘Zahira Rugby Carnival 2012’ at the College Grounds, as a part of its celebrations to commemorate the 120th anniversary.

The Science College won the champions cup, beating the Ananda College 33-0 in the final match. A number of other events too were held to celebrate the achievements of the College in the field of Rugby where SLFP Colombo District organizer M Fawzan Anwer was the chief guest. Also a special memento was presented to SLFP Colombo District Organizer cum Chief Guest on the occassion Anwer in recognition of his efforts towards the development of rugby in Zahira spanning over 25 years.

Under the guidance of Anwer Zahira Rugby team won many major tournaments and also was selected to participate in several international tournaments. Also during the period Zahira which played in the B division advanced to A Division due to their excellent performances.
