Poster contest to mark World Wetlands Day

The Wildlife Department and the Central Environment Authority have organised an islandwide poster competition to mark World Wetlands Day which falls on February 2, Wildlife Director General H D Rathnayake said.

The theme of the competition is World Wetlands and Water Management.

The competition is organised to make the public and schoolchildren aware about wetlands.

The competition for schoolchildren will be held under three categories. It will be organised under junior, senior and secondary categories.

The competition will be held for students from grades six to 13.

It will be held under national and provincial levels. Applications should be sent before January 11, 2013 to the Wildlife Department Head Office in Battaramulla or the Central Environment Authority Head Office in Battaramulla. Applications could also be handed over at Central Environment Authority offices.
