Pandula's performance save victory for Matale

A captain's knock of 91 not out with 14 fours and 3 sixes by Pandula
Udupihilla spearheaded Matale District to a four wicket win over
Polonnaruwa District in their Prima inter-district under 15 cricket
tournament match played at St Thomas' College grounds, Matale.
Polonnaruwa District taking first strike did will to score 197 for 9
in 50 overs. Right arm leg spinner Pandula Udupihilla bowled best to
capture 3 for 33.
Matale District chasing a victory target were given a good start with
opener Lakshan Kaludeera making a quick 60 with 10 fours and a six. But
four quick wickets fell with the score at 75 and the home side were
struggling.
Skipper Pandula Udupihilla who came at the fall of the fourth wicket
displayed that attack is the best form of defence and sprayed the
opponents to all parts of the ground in a knock which lasted only 65
balls. He was supported by the tail enders who kept one end up and
Matale District were home in the 35th over. A victory which appeared
difficult at one stage was made easy in the end.
