President Mahinda Rajapaksa Challenge Trophy T20 starts today

The second President Mahinda Rajapaksa Challenge Trophy T20 triangular cricket tournament will be worked off at the Thurstan and Nalanda College cricket grounds today and tomorrow.

Three leading schools in the country, Richmond, Nalanda and Thurstan Colleges where President Rajapaksa has obtained his primary and secondary education conducted the inaugural triangular tournament last year and the host school Thurstan emerged champions.

The second version of the tournament will be hosted by the Richmond College, Galle with a new addition of an over-40 T20 tournament for the Chamal Rajapaksa Challenge Trophy among Old boys of the three schools, along with the main tournament for school under-19 teams.

The schools’ championship will be worked off at the Thurstan Grounds while the Old boys’ tournament will be played at the renovated Nalanda Grounds.
