Workshop

The Central Environmental Authority with the support of National Youth Council has organized a three-day workshop to educate youth under the theme "Yovn Viye Savien - Haritha Lovak (green world through youths effort) from December 7 to 9 at Polgolla National Cooperative Development Institute.

The training programme will focus attention on Beekeeping, variety of embroidery and bimmal growing.

Buddhist talk

Samudra de Soyza will deliver a talk in English on "Suitable Dwelling" at the meeting of the Servants of the Buddha Society on Saturday December 8 at 4.30 p.m at Maithree Hall, Lauries Road, Bambalapitiya.

Book launch

The book Sri Lankawe Sancharaka Viyaaparaya Apeksha Saha Abhiyoga, written by Shayam Nuwan Ganewaththa and Pathum Wickramarathna, will be launched at the Colombo University on December 9 at 10.00 am. The book covers many areas relevant to tourism development.

The launching ceremony will be held under the patronage of Colombo University Vice Canceller Prof. Kanishka Himburegama. Tourism Development Authority chairman Bhashwara Senanka Gunarathna will also participate.

Islamic lectures

Travelling Light, an inspiring series of Islamic lectures will be delivered by Islamic scholar Mufti Ismail ibn Musa Menk.

Meditation book launch

A book on insight meditation titled Samatha Vipassana Bhavana authored by N.H. Perera, will be launched at 2.45 p.m December 7 at the National Library Services Board Auditorium next to the Independence square.

Ven. Kirama Wimalajothi Maha Thera Ven. Medagoda Abeyatissa Maha Thera, Ven. Deswatte Sumanaseela Maha Thera and Kalakeethi Ediwn Ariyadasa, will be among the speakers.

P.G. Punchihewa will chair the launching programme.

A special feature of the book launch will be a practical demonstration of meditations by the author.

Christmas Carols and Worship Celebration

The Community of the Risen Lord will hold a Christmas Worship Celebration - O Holy Night and evening of Carols and Spiritual Reflections, celebrating the birth and life of Jesus, on Saturday December 15 at St. Joseph's College Auditorium, Colombo 10, from 5.30 p.m to 9 p.m.

The celebration will feature a choir of 120 vocalists. Apart from being a Christmas celebration it will also be a deep, life changing, worship experience.

Entry is free and open to the public. Parking is available opposite St. Joseph's college.
