Saviya foundation helps differently-abled children

The Saviya Development Foundation renders a noble service towards the welfare of the differently abled children. This has helped to lessen the burdens of parents having differently able children, said Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the Diriya Prasadini ceremony to mark International Day for the disabled at the Gintota MV, Galle recently.

Minister Abeywardena said parents having disabled children have to devote much time and energy for the welfare of the children restricted to the four walls of their house. But the Saviya Foundation helped develop the latent talents and skills of disabled children in a scientific manner. Although the Social Services Department catered to the welfare of the disabled, it could not afford to do everything for the development of their talents. Part of this responsibility is borne by the Saviya Foundation in a commendable manner, the minister said.
