Carlton Sports Club , led by Rohitha Rajapaksa, which was represented
by some top club players gave a stupendous performance to beat the
strong Air Force by 17 points (one goal two tries) to 14 (two goals) in
the final to clinch the Asian Finance Rugby Sevens trophy for the second
successive year at the Royal Sports Complex on November 2 (Sunday).
More than 250 participants from 25 teams, locked horns in this grand
tournament which was sponsored by Asian Finance Ltd and organized by
Western Province Rugby Football Union.
(WPRFU) The chief guest was Sanathana Dalugoda , CEO Asian Finance
Ltd and the guest of honour was Asanga Seneviratne, President of SLRFU.
The results: Plate was won by Navy Gemunu who beat Petersons SC 24
points to 12 Bowl trophy was won by Amana Takaful who beat Jawatte Lions
by 25 points 19 while the shield was won by Amana Takful who beat Siyane
14 points to 5.
