Raise Select Committee matters at party leaders’ meeting - Dy Speaker

Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkody yesterday said in Parliament that matters pertaining to Select Committees appointed by Parliament should be raised at the party leaders’ meeting. He said such matters cannot be raised in Parliament under Standing Orders 78 (A).

Weerakkody made these observations when UNP MP Sajith Premadasa stood up to raise a point of order regarding the PSC to probe into the charges against the Chief Justice.

He requested the MP to bring his matter for the Speaker’s attention at the party leaders’ meeting.
