SC allows application filed by two Attorneys

A three Judge Bench of the Supreme Court yesterday allowed an application filed by two Attorneys at Law on behalf of the Bar Association against the impeachment motion of the Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake.

The petitioners are Wijedasa Rajapakse PC and Sanjeewa Gamage.

The Bench constituted of Justice Nimal Gamini Amertunge, Justice Eva Wannasunndera and Justice Priyasath Dep.

The Bench granted six weeks to file objections and two weeks to file counter objections respectively.The next call date was fixed for January 21.

Deputy Solicitor General Bimba Tilekeratne appeared for the state. Attorney at Law Ikram Mohomed appearing for the the petitioners .
