HSBC Galle Literary Festival canceled

The HSBC Galle Literary Festival (GLF) has been canceled for 2013.
This is due to a number of unforeseeable cancellations and the rigid
time constraints of organizing the event. The GLF is held annually at
the beginning of the year.
The GLF organizing committee is taking the break to work on creating
a stimulating and inspirational programme for GLF 2014. This is the
first time that the festival had been canceled after running annually
for five consecutive years.
Speaking to the Daily News GLF Founder Geoffrey Dobbs stated, "We are
planning a different format for 2014 programme for the 2014 festival by
including an exciting list of authors on the list. Our intention to move
the event by one year was to make it even better for its patrons and to
bring forth a list of participants visiting from all over the globe as
well as closer to home. We promise yet another outstanding event that
will showcase the biggest names in the literary circuit as well as
continue to feature its much loved readings, tea and poetry series,
gourmet lunches and dinners, lunchtime concerts and much more in 2014".
