The annual prize giving of Sujatha Vidyalaya, Nugegoda was held at
the Navarangahala, Colombo recently. Sri Jayawardhanapura University
Vice Chancellor Dr N L A Karunaratne was the Chief Guest while Prof J B
Dissanayake was the Guest of Honour.
Prizes were awarded to students who performed well at the term test.
Around 300 students received awards for subjects.
Students who excelled in the GCE O/L and A/L examinations were also
honoured. The prize report was read by Principal Malini Abeysekera
Dissanayake. She spoke of the history of the school and appreciated
services of the school’s founder, Linton Kuruppu.
She also appreciated the support of founder Principal, the late Clara
Motwani. Dissanayake also thanked Managing Director of Sujatha
Viadyalaya, Nugegoda and Highlands College, Maharagama, Lakshman Kuruppu
for his untiring efforts and support to school activities.
Prof Dissanayake explained the importance of using new technology in
the modern world.
He said it is the duty of all to use new technology for the
betterment of the society. He also spoke of the Sinhala alphabet and its
importance.
