Groom youth for future education opportunities

A literacy country conference organized by Room to Read (R to R) Sri Lanka in association with Education Ministry, Provincial Ministries of Education and National Institute of Education (NIE) was held in Colombo last week.

The prime objective of this event was to groom youth for future education opportunities.

Over 200 education ministry representatives, regional education department officials, principals and teachers participated for the conference which was addressed by former Director General NIE, Dr. Upali Sedara, Program Manager R to R, Subash Bandara, Deputy Regional Program Director R to R Tatijana Klein, Advisor Literacy program S.O. Fernando, former senior Professor University of Colombo Prof. J.B. Dissanayake, former Assistant Director General, NIE, Wimal Siyambalagoda. Literacy development programs were implemented in Vauniya, Mannar, Puttalam, Anuradhapura, Colombo, Trincomalee, Matale, Nuwara Eliya and Monaragala districts in association with provincial Education Ministries by R to R last year.
