Explanations called from Himasha and coach

National Athletic Championship 100 meters gold medalist Himasha Eshan was banned from competing in the National Sports Festival on doping charges.

After winning the 100m gold medal with a timing of 10.50 sec. in the National Athletic Championship, worked off at the Sugathadasa Stadium on November 3, Himasha was suspected for consuming banned substances. The 18-year-old schoolboy athlete and his coach Chaminda Perera will give explanations at an inquiry conducted by national Sports Medicine Unit today.

If Himasha found guilty for the charges, National Athletic Championship silver medalist M S M Safran and bronze medalist Ashan Hasaranga will be respectively awarded the gold and silver medals while A D M Silva who finished at four will receive the bronze medal.
