Wheels move to extend Kelani Valley railway line to Batticaloa

Plans are underway to extend the Kelani Valley railway line to Batticaloa, Uva Chief Minister Sashindra Rajapaksa said.

He said the extension will be carried out through Ratnapura, Embilipitiya, Wellawaya, Monaragala to Batticaloa.

Speaking at the Uva Provincial Council meeting, the Chief Minister said the government constructed the Magampura harbour while work on the Mattala International Airport is nearing completion. Rajapaksa said most of the development work started by the central government are centred around the village and the whole country was enjoying benefits of the projects.
