New connections to 12,500 people

About 12,500 people in Bandarawela and Diyathalawa areas will be provided with new water connections with the completion of renovation work at Aluthwela water treatment plant, Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh Gunawardana said. Minister Gunawardana was participating in an observation tour of the project site on December 1.

Minister Gunawardana requested officers to accelerate all activities in this regard. The minister urged all officers to provide the water connections within two months.

Addressing a meeting at Bandarawela, the minister said that during two months water supply projects in Badulla, Ella, Haliela and Mahiyanganaya will commence.

Around 37,500 people will be provided with water through this project. Estimated cost for the project is Rs 10,000 million.

Member of Parliament Rohana Pushpa Kumara and many Provincial Councilors and Pradeshiya Sabha members also participated.
