Tamil politicians whipping up
communal tensions
The Tamil politicians are whipping up the same modus operandi that
prevailed in the latter part of 1970 and the beginning of 1980 to draw
the university students into a communal rampage, M.M.C. Jaffna Remedias
said.
He was speaking at the monthly meeting of the Council. He said Tamil
politicians used the university students as pawns to achieve their
destructive plans.
They sent their children abroad to get good education and utilised
the sons and daughters of poor families to pick up arms against the
government.
Their speeches in Parliament and Public platforms stirred the youths
to rebel against the government.
They fuelled the youth with communal rancour and converted them as
the enemies of the Army at a time the government condescended to reduce
the Army in the North and the South.
If we continue to disturb the peace in the North and the South we
will be giving excuses for the government to clamp down emergency.
Therefore I will not be a party to any decision repugnant to peace,
law and order" he said.
