'Weekend tuition cannot be banned easily'
Kithsiri WANASINGHE
Weekend tuition classes cannot be banned easily because parents and
students have been caught up by the trend due to the inadequacy of
education received during the school hours, NCPs Provincial Education
Minister Peshala Jayaratne said.
He expressed this opinion fielding a question raised by journalists
after a meeting attended by Provincial education officials at the
Polonnaruwa kachcheri recently.
Minister Jayaratne said tuition classes have come to the limelight
due to the lack of confidence shown by parents and students in most
school teachers due to their selfish attitudes and other activities.
The activities of teachers play a vital role for the achievement of
government's education targets. But the chase for monetary gain and
sectarianism were the major challenges facing education today.
Therefore, he has formulated a programme to ensure a systematic
education in the NCP during his tenure of office. |
