SLT sponsors National Trauma Unit

Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) as a part of Corporate Social Responsibility
activities, has come forward as the Super Platinum sponsor for the
establishment of National Trauma Unit in Batticaloa Teaching Hospital to
provide improved healthcare facilities for the people of the East.

The cabinet approval project is initiated by the Foundation
Supporting a National Trauma Service in Sri Lanka (Project BEAP) and SLT
will be key investor for proposed hospital project.
The proposed trauma facility will have a multi story hospital that
will initially have four operating theatres with provision for four
more, a 100 bed short and long ward and other key services. Over two
million people in Batticaloa and surrounding districts such as
Polonnauruwa, Ampara will have the access the services of this unit.
In addition to being the key investor for the hospital project, SLT
will provide Teleconferencing/video conferencing facilities inside
operating theatres for doctors, thereby providing e-health and m-Health
platforms for doctors to obtain medical advice from specialists overseas
or in other parts of the country. SLT will also provide the hospital
with a state of the art IT lab delivering ease and convenience for
doctors at the hospital.
Speaking at the event, Sri Lanka Telecom CEO Greg Young said that SLT
as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility activities has
committed to contribute for the betterment of local communities and we
are privileged to partner the BEAP and Ministry of Health in a bid to
improve the health care facilities of the people living in Batticaloa
area as well as surrounding areas.
This Trauma Unit will serve the medical needs of the people in the
region whilst offering medical heal and treatment for disabilities. |
