'Taking Sri Lanka to 2020', a concept of Saki Data Centre

Sri Lanka is on an exciting and progressive journey driven by its 10
year plan, "Taking Sri Lanka to 2020." Inspired by it, Saki Date Centre
will be set up in Hambantota with an investment of Rs 3.5 billion. An IT
Park too is being set up in Hambantota on a 1500 acre land. The Sri
Lankan Government's vision is to use the IT Park as a key driver for the
local Information and Communication industry.

"With more and more business processes and citizen services operating
over the net, the demand for protection of data with an efficient backup
and recovery solutions had arisen in recent times.This precludes a need
to set up strategic infrastructure that would facilitate high
availability, quick scalability, efficient management and optimized
utilization of resources," said Surya Prakash Madrecha, Chairman and
Managing Director, Trimax IT Infrastructure & Services Ltd, India.
The Saki Data Centre would provide shared, secured and managed
infrastructure for consolidating and hosting national level applications
with a view to provide government - to-government, government-to-citizen
and government-to-busineess services which would be fast, efficient and
secure and would provide a managed environment for citizens and
businesses to conduct secure transactions.
The Saki Data Centre (SDC), would act as a central repository of data
and would offer secure data storage, online delivery services, citizen
information and services portal, national intranet portal, disaster
recovery, remote management and service integration. The SDC would also
help store and secure data of the entire nation in a safe manner for
future generations.
Trimax IT Infrastructure & Services Ltd, with its vast experience in
building and operating data centres for government bodies and
enterprise, would set up a state-of-the-art Saki Data Centre for the
Government of Sri Lanka.
The Indian Company would also be recruiting Sri Lankans for this
project, while the raw material to build and service the venue would be
bought from Sri Lanka.
The Indian Company would also open a branch office in Hambantota next
year. |
