Kahawatte to be fully electrified

The Power and Energy Ministry has taken measures to supply
electricity to the entire Kahawatte area which witnessed a number of
murders during the recent past, Power and Energy Deputy Minister
Premalal Jayasekara said.
He was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the electricity
project in Dimbulwala, Kahawatte.
"The wave of recent murders in this area brought fear to Kahawatte.
The day to day activities, education and economic activities in this
area were also badly affected due to these murders. Providing
electricity to the whole area is one of the measures which have been
taken to normalize the stressed situation in Kahawatte.
Hence, the government has decided to launch this electricity project
in this area, "he added.
The human resource in a country is its most valuable resource.
Hence, the government of each country has a vital responsibility to
protect and ensure security of the nation, Deputy Minister Jayasekara
said.
This project has been launched by the "Vidulamu Lanka" project office
and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Deputy General Managers Office in
Ratnapura with funds provided by Iran.
Around Rs.11 million will be spent on this project and this is to be
completed within three days. Over 250 families will receive electricity
through this project.
