29th Mercantile Athletic Championship:

SriLankan overall champions

SriLankan Airlines became overall champions at the 29th Mercantile Athletic Championship (MAC) which was held last week.

During the two day sporting event, SriLankan athletic team won a total of 80 medals including 47 gold, 23 Silver and 10 bronze there by beating 49 mercantile establishments took part at the event.

SriLankan staff who participated at the event earned the star status by winning the main titles of the event that is Overall men Championships and Overall Women championships.

Accordingly K.D.K.Fernando, Susantha Mawela and Gamini Weerasinghe judged as best performers under men's category whereas Priyanka Sirisena, A.S.P. Silva and Krisanthi Perera judged as best in the women's category. The SriLankan team also managed to break six new meet records.

A total of 1750 athletes representing 49 mercantile establishments participated at this mercantile Championship.
