Al Fayed wins National Title

Fifteen-year old Al Fayed Mohammed of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda has emerged champion in the black belt 14-15 age and under-70kg weight category at the 37th annual National Karate Championship held at the Sugathadasa Stadium recently.

AL Fayed won his national title performing top of eight contestants in the event. The championship is recognized by the World, Asian and Sri Lanka Karate Federations while also accepted by the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka.

This victory entitles Al Fayed to take part in the World Karate Championship to be held in Japan, next year. He is also engaged with athletics and has won many accolades at school level.
