Largest court complex in Galle

The country's biggest court complex will be established at Beligaha
Junction, Galle at an estimated cost of Rs. 850 million, said Justice
minister Rauf Hakeem . The minister said so addressing the media when he
visited the site of the proposed court complex on Tuesday.
The minister said all magistrate, district and high courts, the
Provincial High Court, Commercial High Court and Quasi Court presently
located in the Galle Fort will be housed in the proposed court complex.
It will also consist of an office complex of 400 office rooms for
lawyers in the Galle bar.
Minister Hakeem said following the establishment of the new court
complex, the buildings in Galle Fort utilized for judicial activities
would be used by the government for tourism promotion.
According to the minister, the inauguration of work on the court
complex will be held on January 12 under the auspice of Speaker Chamal
Rajapaksa Deputy Speaker Chandima Weerakkodi and Galle district
parliamentarian Manusha Nanayakkara also participated.
